X-Ray Laboratories was established in 1968, since then it has provided a professional, comprehensive, and cost-effective testing and inspection service to the engineering industry in New Zealand.

X-Ray Laboratories was the first and possibly the only NDT company outside Australia to get a NATA registration, which it held until the advent of Telarc and then IANZ. X-Ray Laboratories continues to hold IANZ accreditation for various mechanical and non-destructive methods. Our services are available nationwide although, specialising in the North Island of New Zealand.

Proudly New Zealand owned and operated for over 50 years and counting. Managing Directors Israel Hughes and Scott Burfoot both have Mechanical Engineering Degrees and Years of NDT Experience. With Israel & Scott leading the team at X-Ray Laboratories, we continue to provide a world class service to all our customers and clients alike. Our service goes above and beyond for all our clients and we pride ourselves on listening to your needs so a tailored solution can be formed for any situation.

Our laboratory testing is carried out in most of the techniques required for a complete service to the engineering industry regarding welding procedures, welder qualification and material approvals.

Our on-site testing is carried out in the common techniques of non-destructive inspection used by the heavy engineering industry for the approval or certification of production welds. This can be techniques such as: Radiography, Ultrasonics, Magnetic particle, Dye penetrant, or Visual testing.
